Hans Eriksson + Shroud = ?

If Hans Eriksson has Shroud would that protect him from his own ability?

Shroud protects the shrouded creature from being targeted by spells or abilities.

Since the word "target" is not used anywhere in Hans' ability, Shroud doesn't protect him from it.
