Entwine - How does it work?
Asked by ScotchMTGFanboy 11 years ago
I ran into this card, Stir the Pride , I'm not sure how the Entwine cost works, do I have to cast it paying 4 (w) then 1(w) to use the entwine? Thanks!

For clarity's sake, you don't cast it and then pay the entwine cost, you pay the entwine cost along w/ the normal cost of the spell. So, you would pay 5WW to cast the spell (entwined), not 4W to cast and then 1W after casting to entwine.

Np. I'd go sniffing around on Gatherer. You can look up cards by text. Type in something like "creatures you control gain lifelink" or something else more in tune w/ what you're looking for. Azorius Charm as an example.

Your thoughts are right. Entwine is an additional cost that gets paid at the same time as other costs for casting the spell. The total cost to cast an entwined Stir the Pride (assuming nothing else special is going on) would be 5WW.
