Can an opponent enchant a hexproof creature? What about making a creature hexproof if its already enchanted?

Can an opponent enchant a hexproof creature?
An opponent cannot cast aura spells to enchant your hexproof creatures. aura spells target and hexproof stops your opponents from targetting your permanent.Note that aura cards entering the battlefield other than being cast will allow them to attach their aura to your hexproof creature, as it is only aura spells which target. They can enchant their own creatures with no issues.
What about making a creature hexproof if its already enchanted? Unlike protection, hexproof does not cause enchantments (auras) to fall off of a creature. It only prevents the object from being targetted, which enchantments don't do once they are on the field (enchanting on its own doesn't target).

So I would need to find protection cards rather than hexproof cards. Does protection make the enchantment fall off for good, or just as long as the creature has protection?

Protection makes all illegally attached permanents fall off an object. They don't reattach when the object loses protection. Auras that fall off go to the graveyard and won't come back.

Sweet! Are there any low mana cost spells that offer protection? I know there are a few white ones, but I'm looking for a blue.

Blue doesn't deal with protection. If you aren't using white, you'll need to look to countermagic or equipment.

I'm not aware of any blue spells that confer protection, but there's quite a lot of blue creatures with it . I know white has some enchantments though. Artifacts confer it too, such as card:Akroma's Memorial

Yeah, I looked into getting a playset of that for MillAgain , but the mana cost is brutal. Thank you all for your answers!

I don't see why that deck needs protection.

I've been playing a person with an enchant deck, and he keeps enchanting my creatures. Just a little annoying. Thought I'd play with the concept of protection if it was low mana. But the low drop card:Jace's Phantasm has been saving my ass.
