Enchantment Stealing

Let's say I use Zealous Conscript's ability on a Ethereal Armor. Will it go to the grave, will it enchant my creature? Is it illegal?

Sure, you can do it. But it'll still be attached to your opponent's creature. The only real effect is that it'll now count your enchantments, rather than your opponent's.
