Dragonlord Silumgar and Strionic Resonator?

Asked by Faded_Cthulhu 10 years ago

Could you copy Dragonlord Silumgar's ability as he enters the battlefield with the Strionic Resonator to gain control of 2 creatures? If so how would you need to stack it?

Silumgar's ability is a triggered ability, so you can copy it with the Resonator. To do so successfully, you have to respond to the triggered ability and activate Resonator's ability, targetting Silumgar's ability. This will put the copy on the stack on top of the original, so the copy will always resolve first (in case this matters to you somehow). You choose targets at the time you put the abilities on the stack, so you'll have to choose the target for the original ability before you activate Resonator's ability to copy it and choose new targets.

Yes you can. It also targets planeswalkers btw.

  • Dragonlord Silumgar's ETB trigger happens, targeting something.

  • in response, activate Strionic Resonator targeting the ability from Silumgar.

  • a copy of the triggered ability is created on the stack, targeting either the same creature or planeswalker or a different one.

  • the copy resolves, letting you gain control of targeted object.

  • the original ability resolves, letting you gain control of the targeted object.
