Does Undying Work on Tokens?
Asked by Fleetfiend 12 years ago
If I were to give a token undying, would it come back to the field?
I know that tokens disappear immediately after entering the graveyard, but would undying happen first, bringing them back?

You've answered your own question. Tokens in non-battlefield zones cease to exist as a state-based action (effectively immediately). Undying needs to resolve on the stack before it brings anything back, so it's much slower than a state-based check.
Even if an effect would put a token in a non-battlefield zone and try to immediately bring it back, the token won't be able to reenter. It will then cease to exist next time SBAs happen.

A creature token that dies, while it has undying, would trigger undying. But before it goes on the stack SBA's would be performed and the token would cease to exist. then when the undying trigger resolves, it will do nothing.
