Does Hypersonic Dragon affect creature abilites?

Asked by Unsuriati 11 years ago

Hypersonic Dragon is on my field, along with Savageborn Hydra . Hypersonic Dragon 's ability specifically says spells, and doesn't mention activated abilities. But Savageborn Hydra 's ability says you can activate it any time you could cast a sorcery. I'm assuming it is still restricted to your turn, but I got to thinking about the wording. Can anyone clarify?

The keywording of the Hypersonic Dragon is that it says you may play "sorcery spells" as though they had flash. This does not affect abilities and such. Only Sorcery Spells.

"Whenever you could cast a sorcery" is MTG shorthand for "during your main phase while the stack is empty and you have priority." Effects that change the times at which you could cast a sorcery do not change the times at which you can take actions limited by this phrase.
