Does Goblin Battle Jester's ability apply to casting himself?

If I cast Goblin Battle Jester from my hand, does the fact that he is a red spell trigger his ability that makes a target creature unable to block, or does that only apply to spells that are cast once he is already on the field?

So, when you have a spell such as goblin battle jester, if you cast it, it goes onto the stack. Then, after everybody passes priority, the stack resolves. When your battle jester resolves, he procedes to be put onto the battlefield, becomes a permanent, and now his ability can be triggered. So, since he isn't on the battlefield when he is cast, his abilities cannot be triggered.

Goblin Battle Jester needs to be on the battlefield for its ability to trigger. Once it's on the field, it won't retroactively trigger for its own casting. It will only trigger for red spells cast after it becomes a permanent.
