Does blinking Amber Prison stack its ability?
Asked by pauljames61491 11 years ago
I know certain cards that say something along the lines of "(Action A) as long as this card remains tapped," such as Amber Prison. My question is, if I blink Prison, and it returns to the battlefield untapped, if I tap it to target something else, will that target replace the previous one, or will both be still valid targets? There's several cards I've been curious about this ruling and Googling it doesn't seem to be very useful. Thanks!
It may be useful to bear in mind though, that while blinking the Amber Prison will cause it to stop applying its effect to the first target, that first target doesn't get to untap until it would normally untap next, so you could use the prison to tap something, blink it, and then tap something else, and then blink it, and then tap something else.
All of those things (except whichever you tapped last) will untap as normal, but for now (presumably just before combat when you'd want to use this) they'd still be tapped.

Amber Prison
As soon as Amber Prison becomes untapped or leaves the battlefield (which it does in the case you blink it), it immediately stops applying its ability to its previous target, so you'll have to choose a new target and the old one can now be untapped during its controller's untap phase.
