Do you have to have a creature for Peel from Reality?

Asked by chrizzilla 10 years ago

I didn't see it on the Gatherer website, so I wanted to make sure. I assume yes since it says "Target creature you control and target creature you don't control"?

You can't cast a spell without valid targets.

Peel from Reality requires both a target creature you control, and one you don't. If you can't target both of those things, you aren't able to cast the spell.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Notice that if one of the targets is removed in response the spell will still try to resolve as much as it can instead of fizzling. All targets have to be legal for the spell to enter the stack but once there it functions as long as it has at least one legal target.
