distant memories exiled face up or down?

so many post on gatherer but no rulings on play yet that I have seen. Is Distant Memories played face up or down? There are many valid points to each side but I don't want to purchase a deck build idea just to have it flop. If anyone could point out an ruling text would be greatly appreciated!

406.3 - Exiled cards are, by default, kept face up and may be examined by any player at any time. Cards "exiled face down" can't be examined by any player except when instructions allow it. [CompRules 2009/07/08]

Yeah all cards are exiled face-up unless otherwise stated, there for your oppenet may see them, just like they are allowed to look at your graveyard.
