Color Identity in Commander

Asked by JRaynor 9 years ago

So I believe I understand how color identity works in Commander for the Commander but does that rule affect all cards in the deck as well?

For example, if I was using a // deck could I run an Embodiment of Spring?

You use the color identity of each card to determine whether it can go in your commander's deck. A card in the deck can't have any color in its identity outside of your commander's identity. Embodiment of Spring is a no-go for a Lord of Tresserhorn deck.

Thanks for the clarification.

Color Identity looks at all symbols on a card, not just casting cost. Embodiment of Spring is a G/U card because it has a Green symbol in it's text outside of reminder text.
