Change control, phasing

Asked by Colten_Lee 11 years ago

So if my opponent uses Daring Thief to give me a creature with phasing and takes any of my creatures, doesn't matter. Then I go and the creature phases out. If Daring Thief ability were to end somehow, what happens to the phased out creature?

  1. If Daring Thief's ability ends, the phasing creature will go back to your opponent's control

  2. I don't know of any effects which will actually cause Daring Thief's ability to end other than the the phasing creatures actually changing zones in the first place, so this is mostly a moot point

702.25d The phasing event doesnt actually cause a permanent to change zones or control, even though its treated as though its not on the battlefield and not under its controllers control while its phased out. Zone-change triggers dont trigger when a permanent phases in or out. Counters remain on a permanent while its phased out. Effects that check a phased-in permanents history wont treat the phasing event as having caused the permanent to leave or enter the battlefield or its controllers control.

702.25e Continuous effects that affect a phased-out permanent may expire while that permanent is phased out. If so, they will no longer affect that permanent once its phased in. In particular, effects with for as long as durations that track that permanent (see rule 611.2b) end when that permanent phases out because they can no longer see it.
