Can you kill yourself with your own shockland?

Asked by slashx24 12 years ago

If you are on two life, can you chose to pay the two life to bring the card into play untapped and thus kill yourself?

I can't clearly see a reason why you couldn't. I know you can not pay life you don't have, but in this case you do have the life to pay.

(Just to clarify, I know you normally wouldn't want to do this, but I chose to do it this week at FNM so that I could end a match against an incredibly frustratingly slow player when I really needed a break, but he tried to tell me I couldn't.)

Yes, you can.

As long as you have the two life to pay the cost, sure. If you have less life, you cannot pay the cost.

Any special reason you didn't just concede? Or tell a judge about your opponent's slow play?
