Can you have the same commanders in an edh game?

Found this rule change to be helpful but I wasn't sure how it affected commander games.

If we cannot have the same commanders, does that also mean we cannot have any of the same legendary cards in our decks? I had heard this rule and one of my friends still holds to it dearly.

None of the EDH rules prevent two players from using the same Commander or any of the same cards except teammates in 2HG games.

Note also that WOTC doesn't manage the Commander format. Wizards.com articles can be helpful, but they are in no way the authorities on the format.

It use to be that if 2 of the same legendary were on the battlefield, than they would both be placed into the graveyard.

The article you read was about a recent rule change

Now, if there would be 2 of the same legendary on the same side of the battlefield, than you may choose one and but the rest into your graveyard.
