can I crew in response?
Asked by Dreykon 8 years ago
If my vehicle has Siege Modification attached and I attack. Then my opponant some how destroys Siege Modification can I crew my vehicle to keep it in combat in response?
Yes you can. From the gatherer.
2/9/2017 If Siege Modification becomes unattached from a Vehicle thats attacking or blocking, that Vehicle will be removed from combat unless another effect (such as its crew ability) is also making it a creature.
Basically, so long as it never reverts to being a noncreature, it doesn't leave combat.
@GearNoir-that applies to being able to declare a vehicle as an attacker or blocker. The vehicle in question has already been legally declared as an attacker.

The OP said that their opponent destroyed their Siege Modification however, by this I assume they mean whatever spell removed it has resolved.
He would have to Crew in response to the removal spell being played and before it resolves. Right?

Yes. OP said they were responding, I took the liberty of assuming that they were responding to the spell or ability that was going to destroy Siege Modification not the destruction itself, as that wouldn't be a response so much as a new stack (assuming nothing else was on the stack).

My apologies. Yes I was responding to the destruction of Siege Modification. Thank you Dracoson and GearNoir for... responding ;-)

I would assume that you could still crew in response.Especially since it's an ability and abilities can be played at instant speed, if I'm not mistaken.

According to the release notes for the set, the latest you can crew a vehicle if attacking is at the beginning of the combat Step; for blocking it is at the beginning of the declare blockers step.
See here:
So the short answer is no.
