Can Hair-Strung Koto tap creatures affected by summoning sickness?

Asked by Ilovespiders 12 years ago

If I have a Hair-Strung Koto in play and use Krenko, Mob Boss to put a bunch of 1/1's into play, can I tap the 1/1's that I just got to use the Koto's ability? Some people have told me I can and others have told me I can, so I would like reasoning for which ever way it works.

Yes. Summoning sickness only applies to to tap abilities the creature has.

302.6. A creature's activated ability with the tap symbol or the untap symbol in its activation cost can't be activated unless the creature has been under its controller's control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. A creature can't attack unless it has been under its controller's control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. This rule is informally called the "summoning sickness" rule.

The summoning sickness rule only prevents tapping and untapping for activating abilities on that creature with tap or untap symbols in their activation costs. Tapping them for any other activation cost is fine.
