blinking a token creature

Asked by doodkyle 10 years ago

Iff you blink a token creature does it come back into play or is it gone? I know token creatures are destroyed when they enter any other zone, but I also thought that when a creature is blinked, the same creature doesn't come back into play, just a copy of it

When a token leaves the battlefield it ceases to exist, permanently.

So it would blink out and not come back

When a card changes zone's it's treated as a new permanent, this is true. However when a token changes zones it gets exiled instead

First, tokens are neither destroyed nor exiled when they change zones. They cease to exist.

When a token moves from the battlefield into a new zone, it remains in that new zone until state-based actions are checked, at which point the token ceases to exist. The token cannot move from the second zone to any other zone, even if it's back to the first zone.

Additionally, when a nontoken object changes zones, it becomes a new object. It does not become a copy; "copy" is a very specific Magic term that refers only to an object that duplicates a set of the characteristics of another object.
