Bestow vs. Exile
Asked by CaptainCaveman 11 years ago
I understand that if you cast a "bestowed" spell as an aura that it targets X creature and enchants that creature. Also if X leaves the battlefield then the "bestow" aura becomes a creature enchantment until it itself is somehow removed from play. However when i was speaking to a few gaming friends of mine they said that if X was exiled that the "bestowed" aura would not revert to a creature enchantment and would also be exiled. I Believe that to be incorrect but maybe i am wrong ?
I have no idea what kinds of rules your friends read, but no matter how a creature leaves the battlefield, all auras attached to it unattach before they go to the graveyard. In the case of Bestow, that event is replaced with it becoming a creature instead.

@UmbrotheUmbreon: Regarding the last thing you said in your first answer, here is a tweet by Aaron Forsythe:
Bestow cards cast as Auras will resolve as creatures if their targets become illegal. May not be obvious, but true/awesome.

Even if the enchanted X is exiled, the enchantment itself becomes unattached from it, which in turn causes it to become a creature. How X leaves the battlefield does not matter, so long as it was enchanted by it to begin with ( i.e. not killed in response, not countered)
