Ashiok's Adept's limitations
Asked by Arnny1212 12 years ago
I have a heroic deck. One of my creatures is Ashiok's Adept and I have an enchantment called Ghitu Firebreathing .
I know that i can reapply the trigger ability over and over, depending on how much mana i have.
let's say that my opponent has no cards in his/her hand and after his draw step going into main phase. Can i trigger the ability to make him discard that card no matter if it's land, sorcery, instant (assuming that they forgot to use it in response), enchantment, artifact, etc...?
So let's say his draw step begins and draws a card. Before the end of Draw step i can cast Ghitu Firebreathing
to make him discard that card correct?
and what do you mean by priority first?
put land down without interruptioncast one sorcery, creature, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker without being discarded by Ashiok's Adept
's heroic trigger.

Correction: By what do you mean by priority first? Is it....1. Put a land down without being discarded2. Cast one sorcery, creature, artifact, enchantment, planeswalker without being discarded by Ashiok's Adept 's heroic trigger.

A player can only put an object on the stack when he or she has priority in that step or phase of the turn. The active player (the player who's turn it is) always receives priority first. If he or she doesn't add anything to the stack, then they pass priority to the non-active player.

Please explain in more detail because it's practically the same definition of the rule book and still need more clarification. I am still learning the game.
Just say: "Yes. Active player can cast any spell during main phase (i.e., Land, Sorcery, Artifact, Enchantment, PlanesWalker, creature, etc...) before non active player (me) can discard them using Ashiok's Adept 's heroic trigger.using Ghitu Firebreathing .
I am just trying to find out if there is a way for me to limit the (Active player's) ability to do anything with One card in his/her hand that was just drawn from Draw step?

Yes you may, but you have to do it in his Draw step. In the Main phase, he'll have priority first and will be able to cast the card before you get priority to cast Ghitu Firebreathing and make him discard it.
