Are fuse cards multicolored?

Asked by TheGodofNight 11 years ago

Hypothetically, I have a Soldier of the Pantheon on the battlefield and my opponent casts Far / Away let's say only the Away part. I understand that Away would target me, not Soldier of the Pantheon , but if my opponent used Far which does target, since it is a fuse card, is it multicolored, or because they can be cast separately, it's only considered whatever color the single spell is? Thanks in advance for answering my question.

Fused spells have the characteristics of both halves. If you fuse Far / Away , you end up with a UB multicolored spell. Because Soldier of the Pantheon has protection from multicolored, you can't target it with the fused spell.

However, if you only cast one half of the split card, the spell has only the properties of that half.

Also, make sure you check the Gatherer rulings before asking a question. From Far / Away :
4/15/2013: Some split cards with fuse have two monocolor halves of different colors. If such a card is cast as a fused split spell, the resulting spell is multicolored. If only one half is cast, the spell is the color of that half. While not on the stack, such a card is multicolored.
