Another token hitting graveyard question
Asked by Xenagonian 9 years ago
Hi guys, I know this question is talked about alot but my question is a bit more specific. So I know tokens hit the graveyard for a moment, stay there for a moment (triggering all relevant abilities) and then get exiled. Then I came across this card Nihilith wich litterly says whenever a 'card' hits the graveyard. Now technically a token isnt a card but would Nihilith still trigger?
Any experts that can help me?
Magic Oracle Text is completely literal 99% of the time. They do this so that interpretation doesn't start to make the game infinitely more complicated. If will function precisely as referenced without making room for adjustments, regardless of how helpful or unhelpful it might be. There are barley any situations where they deviate from this philosophy.

1) This question belongs in the Rules Q&A linked in the top header.
2) In many cases, the Gatherer rulings answer questions about a card. On Nihilith it says:
5/1/2007: If a token is put into an opponent's graveyard from the battlefield, or a copy of a spell is put into an opponent's graveyard from the stack, Nihilith's ability will not trigger, because the ability references a card.
