Help with survivability/ideas in legendary "tribal"

Hi! I am new to magic as of a few months ago and I have really enjoyed playing some modern in my friend group. The $100 this is already at is a lot to drop for a deck for me, but anything that can make this deck more viable without bringing up costs too much would be very appreciated :)
The bushido mechanic seems to work pretty well for survivability in the early game unless I am playing against something with consistent unblockable or a lot of flyers since I only have a few.
The flavor of the deck is probably most important to me, but being more viable would be nice too!

Do your friends play T1 modern decks like Death’s Shadow or Jeskai Control? Or are they a bit more casual? What do they play?
