[Q] Card Sleeves with Custom Artwork...?

General forum

I've searched Google countless times for information on this, but the search results get swarmed by other people asking similar questions.. :/ I'm surprised the custom image idea isn't more popular though, I would've thought the majority of players would like something like this.

I'm trying to see if I can get card sleeves with a Day Of the Tentacle image on the back. I've got one that I tweaked a bit for my avatar on forums (moved Green Tentacle across slightly and rearranged the clouds a bit), and I think it would make an awesome MtG card sleeve image.

Anybody know of a company that maybe does card sleeves with custom images? Or maybe somewhere I can get sleeves with a DOTT image..?

Ok I have looked into this from many angles and you CAN get custom sleeves. The problem is you would have to bulk buy a retarded amount for them to want to do it (UltraPro, etc.) Now the reason nobody does this themselves is because of the materials needed to make custom sleeves and make sure they are 100% like the other 74 sleeves to maintain legal status. However if youd like custom tokens and DCI cards I would visit this website.

http://www.customdcicards.com/

They are real and they do come out nicely.

Thanks Cableguy. I guess the only effecient way to do custom images would be having a clear sleeve with an image 'inserted' into the sleeve, but that would probably make them way too thick...

And since I now finally have a DCI membership (played my first tournament yesterday) I think I might actually get one of those DCI cards. :)

I use clear sleeves and print off the images I want. It does make the deck huge but I'm the only one with them and I get tons of compliments on them and you get use to the size over time.

That's an interesting idea. I also use clear sleeves, can't say I've tried them all, but in comparison to the sleeves I've seen my friends use, I still prefer the Ultra Pro clear sleeves.

Maybe I'll try find some nice thin paper and try that then. :)

Yea, I use ultra pro clear.

I honestly just use flash cards. Get it too thin and you will not be able to saturate the paper in enough detail to look sharp. Make sure the image is at least 300 DPI or else it will look like crap.

I've found clear Dragon Shield sleeves hold up better for this. UltraPro crumples up at the top after moderate use and I've found what i printed out ended up looking bad. I know some people don't like the feel of them though, but I love them cause i don't have to keep re-printing images to replace the crumpled top ones. It bugs me lol.

Yea, they are just way too slick in my opinion.

There's a project that was on kickstarter, that got full funding in july, to produce custom sleeves at good quality but in smaller batches. Hopefully it'll show up sometime soon as a viable option. I want me some custom sleeves for my cube.

There's a guy on Kickstarter doing another custom art card sleeve project. He's in the UK, so he might be more or less accessable for some people

is glueing the custom image printed on paper to a clear sleeve a viable option?

Here's the website of the first kickstarter guy I mentioned. Haven't used him yet, got myself batch of plain sleeves already before he got a site up.

Devilsmage got some really nice ones done.

How are they holding up so far?

Most of the custom sleeves print quality is absolutely garbage. Inked playmats quality is actually so poor that even light use will flake the ink right off the back of the card. I did a bunch of research and I found a company in singapore, found here: https://www.facebook.com/Customcardsleeve

They have by far superior quality sleeves. My order came far better than I expected. I highly recommend them, although a little pricy (but if you want the quality, that really isnt a concern)
