Hello T/O!
I just wanted to let you guys know that I recently started a podcast with a friend of mine, and we just published our first two episodes today!
They aren't on iTunes yet, but the podcast has been submitted. So I'm just waiting on them to get approved there. Otherwise you can find them here and I'll put a link in the description on my page as well.
Just two guys trying to get better at Magic. Episode 1 goes into who we are and bay the theme of the podcast is going to be :)

My cohost and I have been getting some feedback already that's mostly positive. If you have any specific concerns or comments you can leave them here. We're just starting out, so any comments are welcome!

ChiefBell - To mise is to get a lucky topdeck. It's a Magic only slang that is immortalized on the card Mise from Unhinged. The title is a play on words on the idiom "Eyes on the Prize"

Had a very "morning talk show" feel to it. Very enjoyable man.

Thanks for the feedback VampireArmy! We're still trying to find our legs, and we're going to be improving from here.

To note is that the word mise (pronounced "meez") is part of a French cooking term "mise en place" meaning "everything in its place."

ItchiUchiha117 - In all MtG circles I've heard it pronounced "mize", and I believe that's how Mark Rosewater pronounced it on one of his podcasts. I'd have to double check though.

Well, this is from a half dozen different chefs that have all been cooking longer than I've actually been alive. And those are just the ones that I know personally. It's a very common thing to hear in a kitchen that someone is grabbing their mise for a recipe. Not saying it's not a Magic terminology, it's just that the root of it is much deeper than that.

Similarly, I'm not saying you're wrong about its proper usage. If that's the case, then cool!

The description of "mise" in the earlier linked MTGS Wiki article gives the origin. It comes from "might as well..." slurred to "mise well...", and if you end up drawing the exact card you needed, you have indeed mised well.

Different terms, different meaning.
Mise en place is just setting up your line, readying your station before service, ensuring all ingredients and food is in its proper place.
Mise on the other hand Rhadamanthus nailed, I've only hear old schoolers say it though (cough PreZchoICE1 cough)

For people who are following this thread, we'll be recording tonight. The topic? A farewell to Khans & Fate.
We'll be aiming for closer to 1 hour per podcast, so if you're interested keep that in mind.

Episode 3 is out now, you can listen to it at the top of the page.

I've scrolled past this post a dozen times and it always irked me that it read "Eyes on the Meez" since I know French. I've been playing since Urza and have never heard the word mise used in regards to Magic. Interesting.

We just posted Episode 4, where my cohost and I talk about the Shadows over Innistrad Planeswalkers!
