How do you do Bold, highlight, underline, other flashy format stuff?

General forum

In various players, deck pages, comments, articles, etc, I see fancy, flashy, formatting tricks, with text bolded, highlighted, underlined, different color's,etc.

I and I am sure others, would like to learn how to do that too.

I am going to be doing a article soon, where I want to be able to do that stuff, in the article.

So is there anybody who could show how to do that stuff, in a comment, in this thread?

It would be really appreciated.

thanks

For italics, type * text * without the spaces -> text

For bold, follow the above form but with two consecutive asterisks on each side -> text

For bold+italics, follow the above form but with three consecutive asterisks on each side -> text

Thanks Epoch. Is there any way to change the color, or size of the text?

Also how do I post a clickable link to a video?

I am going to be making a video on justin TV, or You Tube, that would be related to the article, that I would want to post a clickable link to in the article.

Thanks.

If I recall, there was a way to show the deck name big, like with the color pie also. I can't quite remember how to do it, but maybe Epochalyptik can help out?

I don't know about all the font stuff since it's probably in HTML. There's a guide to markdown syntax here.

For linking, I have always used [text] (URL) (no space in between). Other users have reported problems with this format, but I myself have not experiences any of them.

I know that whenever I make comments, I find myself using the < hr > tag and the < br > tags. The first makes a line across the post, and is useful for separating different sections of your comment, and the second creates a line break, which is useful for creating lists and whatnot.

Unfortunately, I am unaware as to how you can change font size, color, or orientation within your post. I know the standard html tags for these, but they don't appear to work here at tappedout.

Thanks all for the help

now if could get this stickied, where its permanently posted where it would be easy to find for quick easy reference by anyone who doesn't know how to do this stuff, that would be great.

thanks

Markdown syntax is covered under the help tab, so I don't think pinning this would be of any added benefit.

Eh. Personally, I found Markdown syntax extremely confusing. It requires some prior knowledge of basic coding, which means there's a somewhat larger barrier to entry/higher learning curve. I found the way you explained things to be much more simple and understandable.

That being said, I agree that there's probably no need to sticky this.
