Collection Tracking

Does anyone use MTG Portfolio to keep track of their collection? Because I have serious doubts as to it's accuracy when it tells me my Mountains from Tempest are worth $7.50 a piece.
Okay, "serious doubts" was generous. I'm 100% that it's a lie.

I find collection tracking something a collector would do. When I sell cards I usually go around to popular stores and find the most exspensive and cheapest prices and find a happy medium. In other words I don't really care about the value of cards until I sell them or buy them.

I tend to approximate the value of my collection after I take inventory. I'm not sure how accurate the price tracker on this site is, but I have several thousands of dollars in cards, which makes it difficult to tell at a glance whether the number in my binder is close or not.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm running in to. Though I have significantly less than several thousands of dollars. Maybe several hundred. It's all pre-Fifth Edition stuff that is too old to put in a Modern format deck but is nowhere even remotely near competitive in Vintage (and there is no in-between group in my area... it's Standard or guys with decks from Limited/Unlimited), so I'd just like to be rid of it, honestly. But if MTG Portfolio is going to tell me things like "your Mountains are worth $7 a pop" then I have no idea where to start the asking price, or even if there's one or two in there worth hanging on to.

Hi DocLawless, I'm the developer of MTG Portfolio. Thanks for trying it out, and thanks for that link :)
I'm sorry you're getting an oddball quote for those Tempest Mountains, I don't have a lot of control over the quotes because I source them from MOTL (http://www.magictraders.com/) and I have seen some peculiarities there. For instance, it looks like they automatically assign a minimum of $0.25 for any card they don't otherwise have a price for.
Do you know of any sites with more accurate pricing for cards? I designed the site to integrate quotes from a number of sources, but I only ever found MOTL.
Anyone here should feel free to email me at chris@mtgportfolio.com with questions, bugs, or feature ideas for the site.

@chrisguidry The most accurate pricing is probably found on tcg.com They have low, average, and high prices. Typically the average price is the one accepted as most accurate by most players. Many stores go there and post their prices and so people can buy from there which allows it to have a wider range then most sites and has vastly more cards than other sites including scg etc.

I usually go to TCGPlayer to price things, and even to double check the prices I'm given on Tapped Out, because they're way off around here too sometimes. But I do like how MTG Portfolio does other things for me, like compiling a spreadsheet and breaking my collection down into sets, card type, rarity, etc...
