Modern value of Surrak Dragonclaw

Obviously the Bear Puncher will be run in the standard environment. My question is how Temur's Khan will hold up in the Modern environment.

I have a hard time paying more than $10 bucks for any single and I am curious to see how Tapped Out views his future value. What would we play him in? What will his price do? Is $15 just pre-sale hype?

Well he costs 6. In a stompy deck he might work but you'll need lots of ramping and stuff. I see him being way more of an 'EDH guy (Surprise right?)

I do not think he has a place in modern especially because removal is so good, he is uncounterable but someone can just path him. However I do think he is great as a commander shameless self promoting especially in this build Surrak, Bear Puncher

Last I checked he cost 5, making him that much better.

I don't think there are a lot of Temur-colored decks rubbing around in Modern besides Scapshift, which probably won't be wanting him.

oh it's 5? dude i need to get new glasses....well that changes things. At 5 mana, for as good as he is, i can totally dig a RUG midrange.

In legitimate competitive play, he may be featured as a 1 of in a couple decks, like RUG delver. There aren't many RUG decks currently but it may grow in popularity with Khans block, so in short it may see some play, but nothing ultra significant.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I will wait this one out...

Im hoping he drops a bit down the line, worse case hovers where he's at. Only time will tell I suppose but knowing he doesn't have a lot of homes in Modern (currently) makes me pretty confident.

Definetly more for EDH, which may add some value, but I wouldn't be suprised to see him in a few fringe standard and modern decks. Defiantly not a must add, but in the right build he can slide right in. I personally wouldn't mind owning a playset of him just for the badassery level. He also seems to have that mold where some super pro will find a way to break him in a tournament winning deck and sky rocket his value, but until that happens he will stay pretty level.

Keep in mind he is by far the most powerful Khan, at least in terms of having no draw backs or obvious nerfs to supplement his power. Nothing but value.

He will probably jump to about $25 through the hype and then drop back to $15 before leveling at like $5ish. If he actually does see a consistent level of play he could hit $40.

Found an Buy It Now on ebay for $12 and snagged one for my EDH. Will wait on a playset and see though.

He's not suitable for a meta full of one mana killspells. Hence why most of the more expensive creatures regenerate or win the game instantly.
