How to upload MSE custom set?
Custom Cards forum

Does anybody know how to easily upload a Magic set editor set file easily to this website? I've seen it done before so there must be a simple way to.
I'm getting a site error ... could it be because the mac I am using right now doesn't have MSE? (I generated the set on a microsoft system and ported the file over with a flashdrive).

Well I got another error ... but this time it didn't throw a garbage set link up on the list of sets :-P (by the way, the 3 sets that I tried to upload should probably be removed).

Hold on! It gave me an error but actually there is something there now! Great! Thanks :)

Well the result is much the same as the last attempt where there are things to look at but there are no card names and no set name ... but ... people just came over for Thanksgiving so I better come back to this later. It took less time, though.
I now have about 5 broken / semi-broken versions of this up now ... that probably isn't good so maybe only the last version should stay.

Gave me the ornithopter error and uploaded an empty set.

seems like you have a card with no name. delete it and try again.

Power/Toughness would be sweet. A full card image instead of just the art would be awesome too. It's the little things.

Commenting on a set sends me to the error page as well, but successfully posts the comment. (mana cost would be sweet too)

Well it's not working, site won't take it. Thats annoying

It's working for me... and comments too now.
I see your set on the custom sets page.

Its just the pics. How did you export it so all the cards showed up?

I didn't. The site feature is incomplete right now, and what it does now is all it does for now. Disappointing, I know.

I tried hard to get the import working perfectly but the MSE developers kinda stopped active development. There's a few things that I need done on their end, within the program, before I can get it working great, sadly. Sorry guys. Pix and data should be fine though.

Could you (or someone) make a custom export plugin for MSE to spit out something the site can import easier?
November 22, 2012 9:13 p.m.
I'm not really sure how, but I would certainly help if anyone wanted to ramp up making one.
November 22, 2012 9:24 p.m.
Does anyone have any familiarity using the other export plugins?

The documentation is a good resource on the subject of scripting. Furthermore, information on the subforum here and especially this thread have been helpful to me personally.
I think it is possible that the site could read one of the current export formats? I'm not sure what you need precisely for it to work.
This is the best I can do to help you unfortunately; my attempts at untangling the exporter format have been unfruitful.

Can you try this one and email the result to yeago @ tappedout?
November 22, 2012 11:36 p.m.
Yeago I appreciate your hard work but I agree with you, the pics and the data are fine.

So the XML export works great as far as data but it still doesn't contain images. I feel kinda weird making people upload both, that's a lot of steps eh?

I'm working on modding the XML exporter to spit out images.
What size do you want them to be? I think MSE defaults to 375x523
November 23, 2012 1:03 p.m.
To be honest that's fine, as long as the people can read them lol.
November 23, 2012 2:57 p.m.
I will cut them down into different resolutions myself, highest is best.

I'm trying it too and it doesn't work. "Errors. Unable to parse mse file. Make sure that this set file is from the latest possible version of MSE. If you continue to have trouble, please use the Contact Form" umm... whats wrong? My brain? Or the universe?

Did you follow the instructions on the upload page? It doesn't take the MSE file anymore.
December 18, 2012 8:57 p.m.
Yep. Installed the tappedout exporter. Exported the set, it gave me one folder with the pics, and one xml file with the data in it. I zipped the two together and uploaded the zip.

Huh. Make sure your set has a name (and possibly a description), because that's been messed up lately. yeaGO! can look into it.
December 18, 2012 11:15 p.m.
Added set name and a description. Still doesn't work (same error message)

Funny, it's working for me. Email me your MSE project file and the ZIP you created at 404bennotfound ATgmailDOTcom
December 19, 2012 2:07 a.m.
Huh? Wait. It works for you? You mean, my fake cards? You can see them? Where? After I upload them I get the error message and then nothing. Where do I go to see them?
December 19, 2012 3:10 a.m.
Oh btw yeaGO!, I posted something on your profile about using community cards in the playtester, about how coooooooool it would be, and RustyKeyes added something really interesting:
"Following up on what Askani28 said, if you guys manage to do that I'll talk with Twan about putting a big-ass link to Tapped Out on the MSE home page."
Now THAT would be nice :) MSE is like THE reference for motivated magic players who like to spend time on their computer doing useless but fun Mtg-related stuff! A link to Tappedout on MSE's website would be awesome. :)
(Plus, I could finally playtest my fake cards in the playtester and also make a new RPG with fake cards in it!!! :)

I am doing a major refactor right now with just that issue in mind, playtesting and drafting anything.

Export your MSE files to an image-hosting site like Photobucket, then transfer them to your posts using HTML.
