I posting this idea on MTGCommander.net's forums about a drinking game for those of Legal age, its been stagnant for a few days so i wanted every ones opinions. Here are the rules so far:
Elder Dragon Hammered:Requirements:1) No one under the legal drinking age allowed to play.2) Minimum of 4 players.3) Everyone playing must bring at least 1 bottle of liquor or a 12-pack of beer.i.If you bring extra liquor/12-pack, you give 4 free shots for each extra bottle/ 12-pack.ii. The host gives 6 free shots.4) All players stay the night at the hosts place. NO EXEPTIONS!!
Rules:1) There must be a referee that pours shots, deals shots, and stays SOBER.i. * is automatically the Head Referee.ii. There can be up to two referees under the head referee.iii. At the start of the game all wallets and keys are confiscated by the referees and will not be returned until the following morning.iv. Players wallets and keys are to be put into a lock box and in the possession of the head referee until 9am the following morning. The key to this lock box is to be in a separate referees possession.v. the Referee's are in charge of pouring shots, therefore they must be of legal age to serve alcohol.2) Your deck cannot be worth more than $200.00 (Louis Law)i.Land base cannot be worth more than $50.00.ii. Card Sleeves Required.NO EXEPTIONS!iii. NO SINGLE CARD MAY BE WORTH MORE THAN $19.983) If you lose, take 1 shots.4) If you gain life, you give shots equal to the amount of life you gained rounded down.5) If you lose life, take shots equal to the amount of life lost rounded down.6) Every time you kill a General, that generals player takes a shot and you give a shot. (Williams Law)7) Take General Damage, take a shot.i. Lose by general Damage take 3 Extra shots.8) Search your library take a mixed drink.9) Extra turn equals extra shot.10) Draw a card more than draw for turn, take a shot or a shot of coffee.11) If you scoop take 10 extra shots (Skippers Law).12) if you of a permanent you control loses a counter take a shot,if you of a permanent you control gains a counter give a shot.i. gain tokens; give shots equal to the amount of tokens gained at end of turn.ii. Lose tokens; take shots equal to the amount of tokens lost at end of turn.13) If you tap a land for more than 2 mana, take a shot for every 2 mana EXTRA produced minimum of 1 shot.14) If you go infinite, take a bottle and you skip your turn. (Canaans Law)15) If a spell you control is countered, take a shot. If you counter a spell and the counter resolves, give a shot, else take a shot.16) Every 10 minutes take a shot.i. Also take a shot for every type of token you have.17) NO restroom breaks until the end of the game.i. Whoever wins goes first.ii. The other players 1d20 each, high role goes second, repeat to last players.18) Whoever wins give 15 shots.19) NO ANTE OR BETTING OF ANY KIND!! (so no bad desisions occur)

is it just me, or would following the rules to this game end in alcohol poisoning after 5 turns?

My playgroup has been trying to develop a magic drinking game for quite some time and came up with similar rules. One drink of beer per life lost and giving one drink per life gain. One shot is just way too much! If it were more like 1 shot per 5 life maybe...

xD I agree with the poisoning statement... Seriously, you do know that your body can not process that much alcohol, correct?

Double strike + Celestial Mantle = Everyone else dies of alcohol poisoning.

Just tone down the shot intake. loose 5 life take a shot, gain 5 life take a shot...something like that can work out.

There is no way this would work, you'd die before the end of any game, or someone will vomit all over everyone's cards. I like the idea, you just have to tone down the amount of times someone takes a shot.

This is almost as far-fetched as making a drinking game out of a Quentin Tarintino film.

i feel like if you replace "shot" with just a swig of a drink, it would be fine... otherwise people are going to be throwing up very quickly. Talking from experience.

guys thank you, the talk on MTGCommander.net was so stagnant after i had to fix the age thing for international player, no one came up with an idea to fix the alcohol poisoning, i was about to make it give/take= 1/8 life loses/gain but there were no comments after this. i will fix this. i like the beer instead of hard liquor idea too.

depends on how strong the drink is... if it is like everclear and fruit punch, youre gonna have a bad time. but if it is reasonably portioned then no one should "theoretically" die.

I like the liquor idea though a bit more personally, an think it can be reasonably fraction'd down. By a Possible third of whats shown. Example: Whoever wins gives 5shots instead of 15. As for whoever has lost has obviously hit a critical point of alcohol intake.
Possibly, Just whenever someone is to gain life or loose life, they take a shot. This way its much safer an far more reasonably simple. Example: Target player gains 5 life = 1shot. Example: target player looses 7life = 1shot.
It's EDH so most player's use decks that are considered more fun an casual, then 0-3-5-turn win decks that are frown'd upon. With this simple approach, we can even play 1 on 1 match ups that involve drinking as well.

Making it a shot of beer and toning it down a bit would be my vote. That way you will still probably get a good buzz going but it will be done more safely.

That's a mean drinking game right there!, I thought battle-ship shots was pretty intense. This seems like murder! coming from a Norwegian might I add Mate! I think you might want to tone down on the shot intake, as well as let everyone take a piss haha!
I haven't a issue splintin a half gal every now an then, though this seems to be adding up a bit to much. Even for my liking.
Other then that, this is a wicked Idea an I love it! Gives a great reason to get the ol' short stacks out for good night of Laughter.
