Is Yokai Watch a possible Cataclyst for Pokemon's Evolution?

So Yokai Watch is a manga, animated seriies, and video game series about a boy who uses a Watch to summon Yokai for various reasons, often to fight other Yokai. Looking at the Official Prima Strategy Guide for it today I noticed a few things:

  1. There is a Pokedex, er I mean Yokai-List..
  2. This game's way of rating Yokai is easier with them receiving a letter grade such as A, B, C or D in certain stats. I am not 100% but I think there was five of em.
  3. The game is all about collecting Yokai (I really wanted to write Pokemon there)

Regardless of what you think I can't help but hope that this may prompt Nintendo to take their Pokemon franchise into a more mature direction. Right now it's become bloated with extra stats you don't need and tons of extra crap to keep track of. The first Pokemon comics were great because they were just like our world, except they had more fantastical creatures. Lets get back to that.

Whether it's just going back to the original creators idea of the Pokemon world or taking it in a more mature direction such as before the great war and man-kinds mastery over Pokemon, I am hoping that Yokai Watch is the Catalyst that Pokemon needs to change. I thin in order for this to be true Yokai Watch would need to absolutely DESTROY Pokemon's sales for their next generation of Pokemon games. And then do it again. And again.

a thing on Yokai Watch for any who are interested. also explains a tad how yokai isn't another pokemon.

idk I just looked up the game and it just looks like every other rpg today that just has too much going on to distract from the fact that its a crappy rpg. Nothing is new about it I can go play 12 other games that do the exact same thing. Its fine to have a manga and anime and stuff but that doesnt matter as much as the video games do at least compared to pokemon. So I doubt it would destroy pokemons sales pokemon is an icon not just a franchise itd be almost impossible to beat it or even threaten it

I don't know, I actually like the complexity of Pokemon's stats and breeding system. I agree I would like more mature storylines. That's partially why I loved XY so much, because of AZ and the ancient war. I also really want to know more about Looker, Emma, and Zinnia.

I lost interest in breeding when they changed to "Egg Moves". This was further compounded by the introduction of "Natures". I mean I spent a few days capturing the "perfect" Nidoran for aggro (as I was not playing PvP so wanted a Glass Cannon-esque version of Nidoking) and then when I bred it to experiment with Egg Moves I realized that the offspring had a horrible nature.

I did like how in Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, the originals, I was able to farm Tentacool to make sure Charizard had 99 Special though. : )

If they reduced the randomness of breeding by giving a guaranteed nature based on the natures of the parents instead of this 50% chance business then some fans who never bothered might pick up their old games and make a new generation of their old teams, a super generation if you will.

They actually have made an item that transfers the nature of the parent to the egg. The Everstone passes down the nature and the Destiny Knot passes down the IVs. So it takes very little time to breed "perfect" Pokemon. Perfect shinies however is another story.

I played the demo for Yokai Watch. Not impressed. I do professional breeds for Pokemon anyways, so I guess I'm jaded.
