Cascading for Daze —Nov. 20, 2016
Damn, this deck was a ton of fun. I was the first out, but I got to set up some sweet turns with tons of combos and interaction. Not the best for defense, especially vs hasty flyers.
Turn two Sol Ring into Strionic Resonator. Thanks to the Meletis dudes, I got the Maelstrom Wanderer out on like turn 5 and resonated it for 4 cascade triggers. Cascaded into Hellkite Charger and Nature's Will and Decimate and Turnabout. Swung and paid the Hellkite's bonus cost thanks to untapped lands from Turnabout. So got to attack again, and then untap my lands again thanks to Nature's Will for my final main phase. Phew, talk about a turn.
Then, so much more cascade and double cascade triggers thanks to Yidris and untapping lands with Nature's Will, such a fun interaction there.
The board got wiped by a return all nonland perms to owners hand. and I ended up with close to 30 cards in hand. My next turn, I went Yidris, enchanted by Clout of the Dominus, Nature's Will, and Stonebrow, Krosan Hero and maybe another cheap spell or two. Attacked with a 9/8 yidris dealing damage and triggering land uptap from Nature's Will and cascade for the rest of the spells I casted that turn which ended up being another 7 or spells. Got me down to 17 cards in hand at the end of the turn and had to discard 10! Another Epic turn!
Then I cascaded into Blade of Selves and Trailblazer's Boots and was ready to swing the next turn with an unblockable Yidris at all 3 opponents. But then I got Treacherous Terrain'd for 17 lands when I had 19 life. And then was attacked with a hasty flyer with no blockers nor response and died.
The downfall was that at some points, my turns were like playing solitaire for awhile. Super fun interaction for me, super annoyance for my opponents. The other issue was this was fairly aggressive and I didn't have enough removal or flyers to block with.
