Round One (vs. Monoblack Drain) (2-1) - Round one we kept an awkward hand and got slaughtered. Game two we stuck a dork and churned out a Blastoderm and a Sandwurm ASAP. Round three we jammed a Wardscale Crocodile and rode it to victory.
Round Two (vs. Jeskai Ephemerate) (2-0) - Opponent got mana screwed, and we walked all over them with Blastoderms and Tanadons.
Round Three (vs. Jeskai Ephemerate) (1-1-1) - Blastoderm showed its power again in game one. Game two we struggled but came up just short of lethal before out opponent assembled an Archaeomancer loop. Game three was incredibly long and drawn out, and despite opening on a mull to five, we thought we had the win numerous times only for our opponent to weasel out of a lethal attack with some very lucky draws. We had some outs but were in pretty bad shape when the round ended.
Conclusion (2-0-1) - I was pretty happy with the deck. We need more green sources to be able to land Arbor Elf into Growth/Sprawl to four mana. Forked Bolt was nice, but a little underwhelming. I need to remember that Jeskai Ephemerate only has three cards we care at all about: Counterspell, Skred, Archaeomancer, and, to a lesser extent, Seeker of the Way. Archaeomancer is the only real way they win the long game; save removal for it, but don't get blown out by Ephemerate.
CHANGES:
We're going to do a relatively large overhaul.
• Switching to snow mana to use Rime Tender over Voyaging Satyr. This seems obvious in retrospect, since we can use Rime Tender for better pressure in a pinch.
• We are dropping Forked Bolt and boarding extra burn. We don't really need burn against anything other than Elves, so we're going to leave it in the board, favoring more maindeck hits for Winding Way.
• Trimming colorless lands and returning to Forests and Springbloom Druid. More "hits" off Winding Way.
• Maindecking Wardscale Crocodiles. That guy usually overperforms.
