Card Upgrade 37 —May 1, 2019

-Rune-Scarred Demon

-Grim Haruspex

-Myriad Landscape

+Liliana, Dreadhorde General

+Liliana's Triumph

+Deserted Temple

Rune-Scarred Demon is out. I have 4 tutors all much cheaper than the Demon. This makes room for the new 6 drop Liliana. I'm looking forward to trying her out, though I'm not completely sold on her yet. I really like her passive in that it will draw off even my tokens going to the yard. Her double edict seems very powerful as well. It will come down to how often I trigger her passive and how useful the zombies she creates are.

Grim Haruspex is out. He's always been a bit underwhelming since he doesn't trigger off tokens. I'm not a huge token deck, but I'm much more willing to use them as sac fodder or chump blockers than the real creatures in the deck. The new Liliana replaces this effect in the deck. Given that he's only a 3cmc card though, he'll be replaced with Liliana's Triumph. Another edict that hits everyone seems great and since my general is a Liliana planeswalker, I don't think I'll have an issue getting the bonus discard.

Myriad Landscape is out for Deserted Temple. A land that comes into play tapped comes out for one that can abuse Cabal Coffers. Even though the deck loves swamps, cutting Landscape will give me a bit more freedom with my mana early game.
