Hey Stefouch,
thanks alot for your comment!
MTG Treachery looks fun too! Love the idea of giving players roles before each match to alter their win conditions and tools.
Will have a closer look at all identities when starting work on "Seekers of the Immortal Sun".
Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I attempted to get these printed with gamecrafter. I just recurved an email from them saying that my order has been cancelled because it contains WotC trademarked content, and if I want to print them I need written permission from wizards.
Any suggestions?

Voxzorz Crap, didn't know that! A user mentioned it but people reported problems with US printerstudio too. The german site of them works fine tho.
Well I can't remove trademark from the cards since artwork and stuff is wizards property. I will try to contact someone at WotC over the next days and ask what options there are.
If you find another service that works in the meanwhile notify me pls so I can add it on the list.
Otherwise try local print shop with the spreadsheets. :/ Hope that works for you!

It's clearly cited in the GameCrafter's FAQ that content from Magic: The Gathering / Wizards of The Coast LLC is totally forbidden.
I'm in fact really surprised that you, CommanderAdventures, had no problem at all. I'm happy that german printers don't have this concern (at least for now) because I live also in Europa.

Stefouch Voxzorz I just contacted Wizards and we will have to see if they approve this project or not. Before I'll continue this project I want it to be officialy approved, otherwise I think it's too much of a risk.
I will keep you guys updated.
Hello there,
my name is Sebastian from germany and I sincerly want to make a approval request for a fan project called "Commander Adventures".
Last October my playgroup and I started to create a small fan project that we wanted to share, but I recently became aware of your policies for use of Wizards' Intellectual Property. So before I continue this project in any way, I wanted to get an official approval for it.
The idea itself stemmed from many videos about fanmade variants that were created by affiliated partners of yours like the CommandZone Podcast and Tolarian Community College, as well as official Wizards Blog Posts such as https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/reconstructed/five-fun-formats-youve-probably-never-heard-2014-12-09 and especially https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/ways-play/making-your-own-magic-format-2016-02-17
The project is a FREE supplementary variant for the existing Commander / EDH format of Magic the Gathering introducing quests and roleplay to spice things up a bit. We are all very amazed and grateful for MTG and created this project in admiration for the game and its community.
First I wanted to ask if the project can get an official approval of WotC. If that's not possible at its current state, what should we change? We at our playgroup and many people online would certainly be grateful if we are allowed to continue, even if that means that the quests have to undergo visual or contentual changes at its current state.
If WotC should officialy request that I should take the project down, I will of course do so immediately. I would like to make clear that we are ready to cooperate.
We don't want to make any profits of it, since its just a side project for the game we grown to love. Many people liked the ideas we have. I would also gladly hand this concept over to WotC if there is a chance to get an official version.
You can find all informations about the variant here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/format-primer-commander-quests/
And you can contact me anytime at [email protected]
I attached a rulesheet to this writing and I hope to hear from you soon!
Best regardsSebastian

CommanderAdventures I hope you get your approval. But I wouldn't have too much hope because Hasbro's Lawyers haven't a good reputation with fan projects. In the past, MS2 (Magic Set Editor 2) almost got a ban because of an HQ template, and Cocatrix became illegal.

Stefouch Thanks! Yeah I hope that they can understand that this is not a "rivaling product" but a supplementary one that supports the Commander Format.
I will finish the Ignition Expansion tho.

Tried them out completely this weekend only one game but it had all sets minus conspiracy and it was a great time here's is some constructive feedback though and ill try and keep it short and sweet. 1) on the first turn we flipped 2 of the encounters(rats and the djinn) and the red keep one it wasn't bad just was alot to start with we were thinking about doing it if more than one flips at a time to put them all back except 1 at random and draw new quests 2) Also the encounters were great fun (we had a hoarding dragon deal the killing blow to a player on its crit) the only complaint right now is that it felt like the monsters the encounters spawned were just piling up and built a mountain until the artifact player was able to use engineered explosives to wipe them I don't know if that is in the spirit of the game but it did feel cheap but effective

tonyjj1990 Thanks for the feedback! :) Glad you enjoyed it.
1) The Encounters in the Open Quest pile are kept pretty easy to deal with since, like in your case, they can easily come up at the same time. Of course there is a certain chance that there are multiple encounter at once but this should be kinda levered out by adding more quests in the future. The dungeons are more passive since you can decide if you want sent some creatures in there or just skip along. Encounter instead can get pretty nasty and should be dealt with early on. :D If our playgroup draws an encounter we often band together for a round or two to deal with it.
2) Yeah the monsters that are spawned by encounters are just cannon-fodder. They are there to make attacking harder. Of course some players might wipe them away at once, but that's one way to deal with them. We often try to finish of the encounter before there are to many defenders, or try to use evasive keyword abilities to get around them.
Hope you guys are on board when the Planechase expansion "Ignition" is ready. This will add some additional dynamics and special encounters like Planeswalker Garruk who will try to chase you over multiple planes. If anyone in your playgroups has suggestions for new quests or anything please let me know.

Stefouch Happy to announce that WotC officially gave us green light for the project (Check Disclaimer). :)
In terms of setting up nonprofit online printing options for fans, I am going to check back with WotC at a later point. As of now we will do our best to stay within the fan policy guidelines!

Fantastic! Could you post a picture of the email so I can show the people at gamecrafter?

@CommanderAdventures: Awesome! I was wrong about WotC, and happy for your project!

What program did you use to create the cards? @CommanderAdventures

@AJRz Printing is cheaper buddy :)
If this project gets more popularity, I'll talk again to WotC and ask if we can set up a nonprofit printrun for these at any online printing service. But we'll see!

I agree but this should become a legitimate product. It makes commander the game to play. Plus imagine year long tourney at a store doing this as a weekly event. It would be a 8 hour event (or longer).

AJRz Yeah, it's meant to be played as some sort of D&D session with 4+ people, just that your character sheet is your EDH deck.
I had two guys that own LGS test this with their weekly commander groups and they loved it. :)

Dear CommanderAdventures,
Your work is splendid! Your template's art is gorgeous! Your idea is sublime! I cannot find more words to thank you for bringing this cool and beautiful-looking game variant to the community!
And your printing tips are welcomed! I will probably test this game variant in our playgroup.
I love also your Conspiracy expansion because it's an interesting view on the classic Bang/Assassin game.
My playgroup and I developped during 3 years with intense testing a heavier variant of this we called "Treachery": please take a look at www.mtgtreachery.net and feel free to find inspiration for you future quests ;-)
Kind regards,
