So do we take our fourth wolf rider, or our fourth cluestone?

I'm leaning towards the cluestone myself

Despite everything I said, now that I'm looking at him, I'm tempted to take a 3rd sentinel. They don't stack, but it would give us a pretty good chance at dropping one turn 5

Yea. Probably the cluestone

Do you have a list of the previous packs that we've seen Gurei? Might be a good idea to look through them and see how likely cluestones are going to table back to us.

In case we have some comment peekers, I've tossed up a link to the prior pack list in the update. Time for me to pass out for a while.

We aren't in any rush for a cluestone from what I can tell atm since we have seen at least one cluestone that we didn't pick in each pack that's passed us (and many of those packs didn't really have any great cards that we were likely to get on the second pass around anyway).

We have a good chance of getting at least one more Wolfie if previous packs are any indication, and there were also those 2 Gorgons as well.

We also saw 2 Maze Behemoths as well (and if we are insane enough to try 2 Maze Gliders as well).

Basically what we should take here should be based on what you expect to table.

If you do not expect either of the Gorgons and the pack 7 Wolfie to table then we should pick up the wolf here and now.

If you do not expect any of the Maze Behemoths to table we should pick up the Maze Sentinel here instead.

If you expect Gorgons and Behemoths to table and all of the cluestones in the bad packs to be snatched up then we will likely need to grab the cluestone now since we will probably be too busy picking up the Gorgons and Behemoths later

Out of all of the above I think that we have the least chance of getting screwed by letting the cluestone table for now. Hopefully the cluestone will table in pack 1 since the rest of the cards in that pack are rather lackluster. There are 2 cluestones in pack 4 that has cards that we don't really need in it. In pack 6 there were 3 cluestones and at least one tabling isn't a terrible possibility.

The middle ground gamble imo is letting the Wolfie from this pack go. The gorgons and wolfies are pretty specialized colorwise and I can't imagine that there's a lot of demand for Golgari and Selesnya at this table especially considering that a Maze Behemoth was in one of the packs with a Gorgon.

The most likely scenario to backfire on us is letting the sentinel go. Only 2 Maze Behemoths that we have seen will be able to take the Sentinel's place and the fact that they are easily splashable may make them be in higher demand then a multicolored card and rare enough that they probably won't leak by like a cluestone.

+1 Maze Sentinel

If a Maze Behemoth tables we will probably drop the 3rd sentinel in favor of the behemoth, but I'll be surprised if that happens.

Doesn't Maze Sentinel kind of suck though?

July 27, 2013 8:28 a.m.

Supersun says... #9

Not sure how Armored Wolf-Riders, a Scab-Clan Giant, and possibly a Korodza Gorgon with vigilance sucks.

I mean they have practically been throwing us powerful multicolored cards at us all draft, and I would think anything to make those better would be good.

I mean normally in block drafting I usually wouldn't run it, but this is 3xDMG.

I mean the best strategy I can see with the cards we've been given is a rampish type deck where we drop a Kraul Warrior T2 if we have one, Cluestone T3, Multicolored Fattie T4, Multicolored support T5.

For that to work we will probably need at least 5 cluestones (bleeeaaarg) for ~75% chance of seeing one T3. 5-6 multicolored fatties to have ~80% chance to have one on T4. 4 multicolored supports to have a ~75% chance to have one by T5.

From there we just pray someone doesn't have a fast flying deck.

If you are thinking of something else entirely though let us know, that's just the direction I think would be best to make the best deck with what we have. You might see something completely differently that might be better.

I suppose you're right, you're thinking about it more and better than I am, haha.

+1 Sentinel.

should we take the cluestone even though its not in our colors? wear/tear doesn't look too bad

July 28, 2013 10:59 a.m.

Supersun says... #18

We should take the cluestone especially because it's not in our colors.
Take the risk, splash for Maze Glider!

In all seriousness though, all our multicolored fatties have green in them, and adding it means we can remove 1 more forest if we chose and add a lesser used color like a Mountain (though we still need enough to use our Bug Warriors if we have them).

Also, Wear/Tear is pretty bad in 3xDMG just because of how few enchantments and artifacts there are that we would want to kill. We haven't seen an Unflinching Courage at all, and considering we've gotten 2 Wolfies to table in the last picks I doubt that one has showed up at the table at all (there is always a chance though). We might have seen 1 Incubator, but even then we already have 1 Wear/Tear and I don't want to draft more then 1 card to combat 1 card that we may or may not see in one match our of 8.

The only artifacts in DMG are cluestones, and who seriously uses cluestones?...

<.<
3x DMG is stupid lol
