Give it a try sometime. It's been doing very well for me.

Hi, I'm relatively new and I've been staring at this list & can't figure out the wincon. I see Divergent Transformations' targets can lead you to draw you whole deck, but then what...?

It has the same win conditions as the deck in this primer.

Ohh got it, thank you! And keep up the good work you guys. :)

What's the purpose of the Training Grounds? Obviously it makes Thrasios cheaper which can mean more activations in games where that's your gameplan, but is that really worth a card slot? Is there something I'm missing?

That's what it's there for, yeah. It just enables another cheap engine that synergises with the deck's game plan as it wants to run out Thrasios early anyways and then leave up mana for interaction on subsequent turns. And whenever you don't spend that mana, you get to use it for Thrasios. A lot of the other engines that people would run in that spot are creatures, which disqualifies them from being in this deck.

Why not Yawg’s will? Why is Mnemonic Betrayal better here?

Is there any particular reason we would rather play the worlpool warrior notion theif combo rather than a more direct i win the gan combo such as kiki with zealous conscrips

There is. Both Whirlpool Warrior and Notion Thief are castable and useful during games if we only have access to one of them. This means we don't have to build around the situations where we draw our Divergent pieces. Having to do that would make the deck worse overall.

Im looking at this deck for the first time, what is the win cons for this deck type, is it just damage with vial smasher?

The thing that actually ends the game is spell looping via Timetwister + Noxious Revival after you make infinite mana and have infinite draw with Thrasios. You can loop spells like Swan Song and Assassin's Trophy to produce a winning game state.

That's probably not happening, unfortunately. The deck is very similar to Paradox Scepter Thrasios, which has a fantastic primer, and the main difference is that this plays more of a control game and has an extra 1-card win condition in Divergent Transformations.

Hey Sigi, been looking over this and 4c rashmi, both seem really cool. But they seem pretty similar as well. Would you ever consider combining the lists? I see the downside of Curiosity/Keen Sense with Divergent Transformations but as a cheap temporary value play it seems like it could give vial smasher more value before divergent transformations?

I'm not planning to combine the lists, no - the play patterns are very different between the two.

Looks like an excellent list. I’m currently building Jhoira but this looks similar in approach and possibly more fun. Hmmmmmmm.
