10/23/19 Testing —Oct. 23, 2019
Testing done on XMage against 1400+ rated opponents.
G1p- Kept a slow hand, but was able to buy a lot of time blowing up Field of the Dead, and Slayer's Stronghold. I was able to land two tomebound lich to fight Primeval titans, but he fetches Sunhome and I realize I should've saved a ghost quarter for that land and Field of the Dead. I concede.G2p- Landed turn 2 Oko, turn 3 Damping Sphere which bought enough time to for me to find a goyf on turn 4 and win while my opponent searches to find non-karoo lands.
G3d- Keep a 6 that include Goose, Ashiok, dream render, Oko, and only 1 land. I draw 2 lands in the first 3 turns to resolve a turn 2 ashiok, dream render, turn 3 oko. He finds an Engineered Explosives and i have a Force of Negation for it, I turn a Primetime into an Elk, steal it and begin to end the game.
G1p- Opp kills turn 3 oko after i decay his first Athervial and turn his second vial into an elk even though he played a second land. I cant remove his threats quick enough and he runs me over,
G2p- Turn 2 Oko followed up by Goyf and removal win me the game.
G3d- Opp hits me for 12 on his turn 3, my turn 2, I couldn't stabilize the board after that
G1p- I get stuck on 2 lands after a turn 2 bitterblossom. I resolve an AV a couple turns later after decaying, and turning tokens sideways. The AV finds land 3. I was able to resolve a Goose and Goyf. Opp's only out is to swing in and hope i mess up blocks. I don't. He concedes.
G2d- Opp resolves a hazoret, i cant find an answer or way to block, i eventually find an oko turning hazoret into an elk. he kills oko with Elk and seasoned pyromancer on the following turn. I find a tomebound which finds a goose. Opp. anger of the gods the board away. I land a bitterblossom at 5 life forcing me to decay it after 2 tokens. I fall to 3 life and cannot find another oko or goose to secure my lifetotal.
G3d- Opponent never finds discard. I resolve a turn 2 Bitterblossom, counter a crucial hazoret, AV resolves which found me a crucial Ashiok, Dream Render and Vraska, Golgari Queen... Ashiok removes his graveyard while opponent has Bedlam Reveler in hand. Vraska starts gaining me life and drawing me extra cards. I win decidedly
G1p- Turn 2 Bitterblossom gets destroyed by opponent turn 4 pulse that allows a JTMS to stick. An AV resolves on turn 5 and 11, Fact or fiction resolves, Oko resolves, and a second bitterblossom resolves.... Note: Opponent did have turn two Wrenn and Six but flooded on lands.G2d- Lost Notes G3- No G3
G2p- Drew all the decks 4-drops while opponent ripped apart my hand with discard spells in the first 3 turns and resolved 2 DS. I concede
G3- No G3
Considering seriously dropping a JTMS in favor for a 3rd Force of Negation and going up to 2 Dispel in the board,
Want to fit a dismember or Maelstrom Pulse in the board.
Feels superb against other midrange/fair strategies. The deck could probably afford to cut 1-3 Card Advantage cards from the 75 to better fight Aggro decks.
Feels really weak against unfair Graveyard based decks and tribal-aggro strategies, probably add a second plague engineer to fight those strategies, while also being OK against other midrange/fair strategies.
NO MD Change.
SB Changes: -1 Vraska, Golgari Queen, -1 Damnation. +1 Dismember, +1 Plague engineer
