Can I demonstrate a Loop that isn't Real?

Asked by gatotempo 1 year ago

I have a Delina, Wild Mage in play and am losing. Can I try to repeatedly roll above 14 multiple times in a row to demonstrate a "loop" resulting in infinite die rolls to draw the game?

No. Delina, Wild Mage's ability is nondeterministic, meaning that it doesn't have a guaranteed outcome. Even with a stack of Barbarian Classes, you won't be able to guarantee that you will never roll below a 15 and continue the dice-rolling chain.

Basically, unless you can demonstrate that you roll 15 or higher 100% of the time, you can't claim an infinite loop.

Any loop with a random result, such as a die roll or coin flip, even if enacted an arbitrary amount of times, cannot mathematically guarantee that the chance, however infinitesimally small, of you rolling or flipping out of the loop won’t happen. And when it does, you cannot predict at what point in the loop it would happen.
