I love the arts and theming!

There's a few references to Food Creatures here. Are you intending sets of Gingerbrute and ways to animate food? Is Shun Lo doing the heavy lifting?

I'm going to ask for some more punctuation in some of these. Sushi Chef, I'm parsing as "Whenever a (creature type) dies, create a Food token. If you control five or more Foods, you may instead create an Exotic Food token. If you don't, scry 1 and gain 2 life." Is this the intent?

Similarly, I'm reading Emergency Food as "Each player sacrifices X creatures. For each Food creature you sacrifice, each opponent sacrifices an additional creature. For each non-Food creature sacrificed, create a Food token." Is this right?

Last question for now, are all of these creatures intended to be legendary? They have the naming pattern but not the type line.

First yes all that punctuation is the way I wanted it, it late I was hungry and near the end dozing off will fix the punctuation tomorrow

Second yes I'm was intending both more ways to animate food and making more food creatures like gingerbrute, Shen Lo isn't meant to all the lifting lol

Third, no the legendary ones are ment to legendary and non-legendary ones are meant to be non-legendary, while few and far there non legendary creatures with names in magic and even if I'm wrong theres nothing to say it can't change. I mean I have name but I'm not legendary stars. Plus remeber uncommon legendaries for the longest time it was only rarest and mythics so things can change

Will my food creatures have names unless they legendary non probably not

That being said the food creature pics I've seen so far are... not mtg style so people my have bear with me

As far as the legendary vs non-legendary names, the names like Wu Lin, Shadow Chef and Krex, the Strong Cook are evocative, but would cause confusion as to whether they're individually named characters, and therefore legendary. The flavor text also suggests legendaries, but flavor text is fickle. (All the flavor text is well-written, too.)

legendofa TBH and fair I was back and forth on Krex and Wu Lin being legendary they both started out legendary but I didn't want to many legendaries especially since i still have to make the food creatures but they Krex at least maybe a good uncommon legendary.

Hell I consider making Grubbz the first legendary common lol. In my mind common legends are kind of like local legends like a founder of a village or a hero that killed a predator terrizing a small town ect it affects the small area that they come from but doesn't affect the history of the plane they inhabit. Plus puaper edh can finally have proper commanders.

And grubbz is the best chef the Warren's has ever seen since he really burns the food lol

On that note what are your thoughts in the new exotic food token? I feel it's under powered but I also though the OG food tokens were underwhelming but they turned out to very viable in standard and with more support in other formats as well

October 10, 2022 9:19 a.m.

What do the exotic foods do? Is it paying to sacrifice and ping, or was that just on the specific card?

October 10, 2022 1:19 p.m.

Stardragon says... #9

TheOfficialCreator No that's what the exotic food does I made a token to showcase it (not the biggest fan the art but whatever on that point) but im not 100% sold on the ability

October 10, 2022 2:44 p.m.

I do think it maybe should have the basic ability of the Food token too, not because it would make it better but just to keep consistency and flavor, I do like the effect though

October 10, 2022 6:54 p.m.

Stardragon says... #11

TheOfficialCreator no if it had both effects it would make the basic food token would obsolete, I want people to have to choose between the two for different reasons weather to dran the opponet or to stabilize themselves if the exotic food token could do both no one would use the basic token

legendofa and TheOfficialCreator finally added the food creatures and some more support

Asparagus actually made me laugh. Nice work.

I think it's okay to include the usual Food lifegain on Exotic Food, along with the ability. It's supposed to be Food with an upgrade, and I'm pretty sure the ability is tied to the subtype anyway.

I don't think Sorcery - Food means anything. Since they're not permanents, they don't interact with anything that interacts with Food. Keep the theming, but they can't use the subtype.

Glad you one food made you laugh

No exotic food was never meant as an upgrade to basic food but a different food altogether and made you have to think one if you want normal food or exotic food. It was NEVER ment or deigned to replace normal food

The food scorcery does have some meaning as there are cards that card about food spells being cast

October 10, 2022 10:21 p.m.

legendofa says... #15

Okay, so Food is being treated as a general-use subtype, instead of only artifacts?

And I did misunderstand the intent of Exotic Food, but I didn't think it was a replacement, only a supplement. So that's fine.

To be fully clear, I think the ideas here are great, and they make intuitive sense. I'm just poking at them and seeing where they fit within the Comprehensive Rules. But since (I assume) they're for personal use, you can make any rulings as needed, and I can be less pedantic.

I wouldn't general use I reread my cards and they only care about food tokens and cteatures plus while I thought about I discarded food equipment early on.

But out of four utility artifact tokens (Gold/Treasure, Food, Clue and Blood) I found foods whole shtick to be the worst of the bunch so I made exotic foods to make food itself in my opinion good by itself since draining 1 life from an opponent is 90% of the time better than gaining 3 life but there times when that chuck of life is good so I didn't want to take basic food away idk maybe I should just make exotic the new food the way treasure become the new gold

Just in regards to the first one, Food is not a creature type. There's Gingerbrute, but the rules were very clear that no, Food is not a creature subtype but rather an artifact subtype.

Just so you know.
