Dimir Informant

Creature — Human Rogue

When Dimir Informant enters the battlefield, surveil 2. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them into your graveyard and the rest on top of your library in any order.)

Aegis Turtle instead of Senate Courier? Gives you a 1 Drop and a bigger butt,... And maybe Gilded Goose instead of the Dimir Informant?

Hello,

Brineborn Cutthroat is a good card, but it usually shines in decks where everything in your deck can be played at instant speed, it wouldn't be bad in this deck, but it may not be exactly what you need.

Dimir Informant is very underwhelming, if you play it for the surveil you might as well run more Emry, Lurker of the Loch instead.

Merfolk Secretkeeper should be one of your go-to card, you could go up to 4 easily. In fact, you could also run Brazen Borrower 4 times for the control aspect, which means you could also run Lucky Clover, and that would give Emry, Lurker of the Loch something relevent to bring back, since I find your other artifact choice questionable. God-Pharaoh's Statue is situational and Wand of Vertebrae is better used in decks that can make use of their top-deck, like when playing Bolas's Citadel, it's not that great for self-milling.

Speaking of go-to cards, you need 4 Drowned Secrets. Also, Overwhelmed Apprentice is excellent for you and you should run 4 as well, especially if you run Thassa, Deep-Dwelling.

Persistent Petitioners is mediocre at best unless you have 4 advisors in play, and they're your only ones. Normally a deck that runs them will run way more of them, maybe like 20~30 of them since they get around the 4 limits per deck. There's nothing stopping you from running just 4, but they won't accomplish much.

Obviously Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is a must in this deck, but you may want to consider Ashiok, Dream Render too since he can mill 20 of your cards all by himself and still exiles your opponent's graveyard.

I don't think you run enough surveil to run Enhanced Surveillance, and Kiora Bests the Sea God seems out of place since it's usually a finisher in control decks while your plan is just to mill your library. It will rarely be the card you need to stay in control until you're done milling.

Dazzling Lights is pretty underwhelming too, easily something I would take out for any of the extra mentioned above.

Btw I don't mean to sound like "Your deck is all wrong!", it's always nice to see people trying to make decks themselves, it's way too easy to just copy the top meta decks.

Hopefully these suggestions will be helpful.

Araignee on Pauper U ETB List

Hi, cool list! I am putting together a Jalira PDH, so this is a nice inspiration pool. It looks like you haven't updated your list in a while, so just out of my head: Chillbringer (freeze), Dimir Informant (surveil), Sage's Row Savant (scry), Aviation Pioneer (thopter token), Scholar of Stars (card draw).

This is what I'm thinking: The Armored Skaab , Dimir Informant , Homarid Explorer , Laboratory Brute and the Mulldrifter All have ETB triggers which you can benefit from again if you flicker them. If you flicker after a block it keeps your crit from dying and you net the ETB gain. I Would find a spot for a Mnemonic Wall (Maybe out (1) more petitioner). This way you can flicker the wall and get your flicker back and do it continually. It's essentially a continuous mill (Using your crits that have the mill ETB) and card draw if you use it with Mulldrifter . You'll always have the flicker if you bounce the wall and another crit. You can also run a Radiant Fountain in lieu of of Island and flicker it and the wall to gain life over and over. It's a combo that gets used in my blue decks on a reg basis. I'm going to build my version and I'll link you to it. I have been looking into building this deck since I saw Petitioner and I guess it's time to actually get to it. I'm glad you had the same idea. Keep me posted. =]

Hey, I recently acquired Bruna and am considering building a deck around her, so thanks for the inspiration!

Have you updated this deck since then?

I really like the Cloud Key in the list, probably really helpful... Also, I was considering the blue Surveil cards from Guilds of Ravnica ( Dream Eater , Mission Briefing , Dimir Informant , Sinister Sabotage , ...), rather than Scry cards, as it can help dig through the deck while putting useful Auras in the graveyard...

Thanks again :)

Fun! It feels like surveil is more of an all-in strategy for it to be great, except for Underrealm Lich or Doom Whisperer , while dredge is generally fantastic in this strategy. I'd agree that Dimir Informant and Barrier of Bones may not produce enough value as the way you use that 1 creature cast from the graveyard that turn, while dredge provides the value without taking up the creature cast. It's too bad there wasn't an artifact creature with a surveil etb trigger!

Like skoobysnackz says, Stinkweed Imp does seem like a great option as a replacement. More value than Dimir Informant as it also discourages attacks. I don't know if Golgari Thug has enough synergy in here though, I think he's better in something like Gitrog where you have easy card draw and are less likely to play creatures from the graveyard.

Jade Mage could be better than Slimefoot...? She doesn't have the die trigger for the saprolings, but she is 1 cheaper to play (and replay), and 1 cheaper for creating saprolings, so more useable as a sink when you don't have the huge mana turns. Or, if mana isn't a problem in general and you want the mass saproling army, maybe Nemata, Grove Guardian . It seems like you don't have enough sac outlets to really make the Slimefoot trigger valuable and Nemata, while more expensive to cast, gives cheaper saprolings and a way to make that wide army tall. Just some thoughts - if Slimefoot has been performing, then by all means!

I love the interactivity of this deck, Muldrotha seems so fun as a tool box!

An etb trigger is an ability that triggers when a card Enters The Battlefield.

Like Vampire Sovereign, and Dimir Informant. (Which are your only noteworthy etb triggers, and part of the reason Rescue seems pretty underpowered.)

I see you have a lot of surveil cards in here, do you really think cards like Barrier of Bones and Dimir Informant are worth it over dredge cards like Stinkweed Imp and Golgari Thug? If the idea is to dump cards in the graveyard, I have a feeling dredge is the better way to go.
