AEthermage's Touch

Instant

Reveal the top four cards of your library. You may put a creature card from among them into play. It has "At the end of your turn, return this creature to its owner's hand." Then put the rest of the cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in any order.

Whenever a permanent is returned to your hand, create a 2/2 blue Illusion creature token.

Whenever a permanent is returned to an opponent's hand, target creature that player controls loses all abilities and has base power and toughness 1/1 until end of turn.

Building off of cards like Warped Devotion and AEthermage's Touch.

Ninja'ed, and I can't come up with a good idea.

Create a land creature.

akselodd thanks for replying. And I'm glad you liked many of the suggestions! I always like to have redundancy when running a combo deck. I have run into decks with enough disruption that while I could make infinite mana, my one or two outlets were removed and I lost. Different ideas that way I suppose.

I suppose I was hyping up Think Twice a bit too much. It's just a filler that is coming out later. Not a bad card but I think Sapphire Charm probably out does in this type of deck.

One more consideration that I stumbled upon while looking through some cards today: AEthermage's Touch. This deck can't manipulate the top of the library (such as with a Brainstorm or other budget ones) but I think casting it enough times might let you get Peregrine Drake out for 4 mana or any of those big CMC creatures for possibly 3 or 4 less mana. Also if you have a flicker spell in hand, you can avoid the downside of the card.

A final thought here could be to run a clone or two, but not sure how useful that would end up being.

This looks pretty interesting. I'd consider leaning into an entirely colourless package with tron lands, and use Fist of Suns , but the bringers deserve to see the light. There are a lot of 'cheat big stuff' shells out there. Being reanimator is likely the strongest option, and I might try the dice archetype's mana package, to just make a ton of mana. Far from the most fun.

Pentad Prism is used to power out ad-nausiem, and artifact ramp cards offer options.

The unique thing about the big changeling is that he can abuse tribal cards. So go tinker with that.

A manifest subtheme could work.

I do like the idea of AEthermage's Touch . You become more reliant on your commander surviving, but you also don't need any tokens to cheat the creatures in.

Maybe with more of a focus on creatures with good ETB effects.

Nice list. I run a pretty similar deck, except with AEthermage's Touch as the signature spell. Line of play is typically to use Aminatou's +1 on my turn to put a creature on top of my library, then pass turn. Then, cast Aethermage's touch on my opponent's turn, so the creature won't leave until the end of my next turn. Once that turn rolls around, I use Ami's -1 to blink the creature so I don't have to return it to my hand. It does add a couple extra steps compared to just using polymorph though. Perhaps a manifest subtheme would be useful with polymorph? Use Cloudform or some such to manifest a land, the polymorph it to get a creature.

my recommendations: maybe less 4cmc cards -- when are you not just slamming brago on turn 4? and im not super impressed by the legendary artifact enchantments in this list. also, no Flickerwisp ? + Reality Acid

with all the mana brago can make, id advocate for more draw / filtering. for me, i never really feel bad drawing a Serum Visions or Brainstorm . dont you own an Enlightened Tutor ? speaking of mana, other two-drop mana rocks seems good to ramp into 4 mana: definitely Mind Stone but Fellwar Stone / Star Compass could do the trick, too
