EDH/Commander Negan, The Cold-Blooded Forced Sacrifice
WBR Mardu Celestial Flare + Negan, The Cold-Blooded = Treasure

Sleeves: Ultimate Guard, Katana (Red)
Deck: UltraPro 100+ Eclipse Deck Box (Pee-Pee Pants Yellow)

Negan, The Cold-Blooded has the potential to make your opponent sacrifice two creatures, but it's not guaranteed. If you and your opponent pick the same creature when Negan ETBs, then your opponent will only have to sacrifice that one creature. You have to play mindgames with your opponent when choosing a creature in order to maximize the results.

Forcing your opponents to sacrifice creatures is what it's really all about. The more they sacrifice, the more value you generate from Negan. There's a variety of ways to make your opponents sacrifice included here, focusing mostly on making everybody but YOU sacrifice. Cards like Desecration Demon and Clackbridge Troll give your opponents the option to sacrifice or do something else. Archfiend of Depravity and Vona's Hunger can make your opponents sac a whole bunch at once, meanwhile things like Celestial Flare and Crackling Doom can be used as removal while still generating value.

You want to keep triggering Negan so you can keep generating Treasures and maximize your potential. Having a bunch of cards that make your opponents sac stuff is obviously a good idea, but it's not the only way. I've included a variety of flicker/blink-effect cards for multiple reasons.

  1. First, I can flicker Negan, causing more sacrifices and generating more Treasures. I can also flicker other creatures, like Merciless Executioner or Custodi Lich. This essentially gives me about ten more cards that will result in forcing someone to sacrifice something.
  2. Secondly, Negan--or some of my other nasty creatures--will attract a lot of attention during gameplay. Negative attention. Flicker effects can be used to avoid removal and save my battlefield from vengeful opponents.
  3. Finally, if your feeling generous, or political, you can even flicker things like Clackbridge Troll or Hunted Lammasu, which will be discussed in further detail in the following section.

So, what do you do if an opponent tries to "play around" Negan by not casting any creatures? Or maybe your opponents simply ran out of things to sacrifice, leaving you with a handful of cards that currently won't do anything? This little package of cards is here for specifically these occasions. And also because when your opponents spend all their mana on creatures, and then you go and spend all your mana on removing those creatures, it causes bad feels because it doesn't really get anybody closer to victory. Not at a reasonable speed anyway. In order to avoid table-flips when playing this deck, I thought it'd be nice to include some ways to keep your opponents stocked with what they will need in order to keep... sacrificing things... because of you. Hey, it's not a perfect world, but I do what I can to help, y'know? The best of these cards is Rite of the Raging Storm because it does everything this deck wants it to. It hands out free creatures, tells those creatures they cannot attack you, then it forces opponents to sac those same creatures. It's pretty much the perfect set-up in this deck.

Getting Treasures whenever an opponent sacrifices a creature is obviously cool, but obviously getting more value is obviously more obviously better. Obviously. That's why I've included cards like Marionette Master who can smack opponents in the face every time you sac a Treasure. And cards like Mayhem Devil and Syr Konrad, the Grim can hurt opponents even more whenever they have to sacrifice. This is also where I put a couple treasure-based, alternate win conditions, Hellkite Tyrant and Revel in Riches.

Finally, in addition to abusing Negan by blinking him in and out of the battlefield, there's also a reanimator package to help keep him and other creature you like on the battlefield. You can let Negan die and recur him if you want/need to avoid Commander Tax. You can also get back creatures you opponents keep removing, like Ob Nixilis, Unshackled or Archfiend of Depravity. You get the idea now. Yeah you do.

"Cold-Blooded (Check It and See)," by Foreigner (of Slaughter)

He's as cold as ice
He's willing to sacrifice your stuff
He gives you bad advice
Some day you'll pay the price, I know

You've seen it before, exactly like last time
He clears your whole board, and leaves a Goat behind
You're digging for goldfish, sacked anyway
He revels in riches, so some day you'll pay

He's as cold as ice
He's willing to sacrifice more stuff
You want a Savior, but
Some day you'll pay the price, I know

You've seen it before, exactly like last time
He clears your whole board, and he gives you a spy
You're digging for answers, that aren't creature-based
He revels in riches, so some day you'll pay

You know that he is...
