JeskaiM4n Modern Master

Hey all fellow magic players.

I love to play magic and specially deck building is my thing. I'm huge fan of Mid-Range strategies, i think there are no better way to win than grinding for countless of turns to the point when opponent has literally nothing left. And right after that i have to say that i'm also in love with Modern Gifts Storm, which is almost opposite of Mid-Range.

These are my competitive decks right now, Saheeli deck is still in progress, i don't own all the cards yet:

Relic of Progenitus is very good and solid answer to many gravebased decks so it works against Storm too. I'm Storm player myself so i know this. If Storm has enough time it can work through Relic but i think that if you play Mono Red you wont give them that time.

First of all we need decklist to know. And in my opinion you don't even run Rancor in it at all.

I have played budget version of Restore balance and one thing that many have not noticed is that you can play Wear / Tear because it's cmc is 3 with new rulings that came sometime ago. That gives you additional sideboard slots as you don't need to play Wispmare and Ingot Chewer

If you want to stay budget, i wouldn't change anything. In main deck.

Budget wise, i don't think that Blinkmoth Nexus is best way to spent that money. I would first upgrade the landbase and sideboard(I tell more about it later) and then start to get more utility lands which you want few more (Blinkmoth Nexus+Inventors' Fair). First get your set of Hallowed Fountains and perhaps couple copies of Adarkar Wastes.

And then about sideboard.

Your sideboard plan tries to be clever but i have to doubt it.

Spell Pierces and Spreading Seas are fine but not like seriously good but they will do.

Oblivion Ring Ehh it's fine

You don't need both Dispel and Spell Pierce in board it's mostly just wasting of slots.

These suggestions are not the most budget friendliest but it's Modern, you have to be prepared for certain decks.

Relic of Progenitus Always good sideboard card, play at least few.

Hurkyl's Recall Bit pricy one but totally worth it. There are few very popular artifact based decks.

Padeem, Consul of Innovation Surprisingly good one and very cheap, is much more effective against control than own counter spells.

Blessed Alliance Helps to remove bigger things that out race you and lifegain against burn is always good.

Those all are good sideboard cards for budget overall, there is much more to consider of course but i won't make this list too long for now.

Opt, Rapid Hybridization and Dispel/Spell Pierce are all easy cuts

And then, get your playset of Path to Exile, it is so good that it immediately makes deck much stronger. Not being able to remove opposing threats will cost you games.

If you are able to upgrade the deck, get the Paths first, then balancing between landbase and sideboard upgrades. Modern isn't cheap format, i know. And of course it all depends how serious you play, if you just do FNMs it really doesn't matter what you play. Though there will be meta decks even in FNMs.

If you want more help add me in chat!

Have fun and good draws!

Doesn't look too bad for the beginning but you have long road ahead of you.

I think this could some day transform to some kind of Delver deck fairly easily.

I leave my own Delver list in here instead of suggesting million cards (I'm lazy right now):

U/R Delver

And yes play Thing in the Ice  Flip instead of Blasphemous Act absolutely.

You overall need more and better removal/card draw and payoffs, those aren't any expensive in money even.

Goryo's Vengeance Seems bit even bad with only 2 targets in whole deck. You don't have that much looting effects in the deck overall.

I would consider removing some or all copies of it or adding more targets for it.
