The new folders system is totally unusable for me

TappedOut forum

I have a folder in which I keep all of my EDH decks (which, since I play magic online which is cheap, and just like building a lot of different decks, is like 150+ decks and counting) and thanks to the new update it's impossible to see all of my decks unless I sit and click "show more decks" for like 5 minutes straight. The only option I have now is to make a very large number of smaller folders so that I don't have to wait to get to them, which is just impractical.

They also are now sorted in alphabetical order rather than chronological. Before it was very quick and easy to just go to the last page and open up whatever decks I was working on from there. That is now impossible to do.

Up until now I've used tappedout over any other deck creation website primarily for its ease of use and, needless to say, this update has killed much of that ease of use.

I would like to offer constructive criticism but I just can't. Even for small folders that only have 10-20 decks in them, it's frustrating to not be able to open the folder in a new tab and to have to click "show more decks" to see the rest of the decks. I can't think of even so much as one single use case in which the new design is not objectively worse than the old one.

Please offer an option to revert the site back to its previous layout for those of us (such as myself) that wish to do so.

Don't they automatically populate when you scroll down? They should...

@yeaGO

Just took a look at the new changes, great job, that's a vast improvement. Decks ordered starting with the most recent is exactly what I was looking for, and being able to open the deck page in a new tab like you can now makes for a much cleaner user experience, as does the larger number of decks visible on screen.

I must say I do still think the previous system of displaying folders as a series of pages made browsing older decks more convenient, but I am probably in the minority in having such an excessive number of decks, so I expect that is not an issue for most users. Even with the massive folders I have, it's not too much trouble to scroll down to the bottom with these new changes.

What I'll probably start doing is arranging my decks into folders by the year I built them or by colour combination or something similar, that way each individual folder will be less cumbersome than just having them all shoved in one giant folder.

Sorry for my initially very negative response, and thank you so much for both taking the time to respond and for addressing the issues I pointed out.

I also have a lot of decks and liked the sub pages better.

Oh, pagination?

Yeah I mean what TeapotKing said, a page (or more) for every folder.

Have you clicked through to the individual folders

Yes I have.

I will try to clarify what I mean: Clicking on the folder takes me to a different page where all decks in the folder are listed. That is fine. But before the changes, there were several pages and I could just click on a page number to get to that page. Now, I have to scroll through a huge list and wait for additional entries to load. I liked a series of pages for each individual folder better, just as it was before.

Or, as TeapotKing put it:

"I must say I do still think the previous system of displaying folders as a series of pages made browsing older decks more convenient"

I hope I was able to explain what I mean.

Thank you for taking the time and trying to understand my issues with the new folder system.

Could you explain the task you were doing when seeking a page? Were you simply trying to get to the end of the list, or do you really have a set page number that you somehow know a deck is on?

I am usually looking for a specific deck when seeking a page. I know my decks very well and since they were ordered chronologically I usually knew on which page a deck was.

I guess I could get used to them being all on the same page, but the time it takes to load more decks while scrolling down makes it a bit cumbersome.

Thank you very much.
