I haven't been playing but a couple years but utilize the colours prime archetypes so say low drop creatures in both depending on how you play, green for cheap pumps and ramp with cmcs of three or less, and blue for static pumps such as lords or enchantments as well as even some counter spells in your sideboard in case you need a little build up time. Think of it has what cards can I get good value out of. My UG Merfolk deck is also aggro so if you need more help then feel free to reach out.
