1) I realized that I've been playing Council of the Absolute wrong for a while as I also applied to creature cards - big OOPS. If I want to avert Noncreature spells then Negate is the safer options in me not needing to predict what the opponent might have access to if I don't know his deck.

2) With the Divining Top Banned the only really DIRE situation where I might have needed Trinket Mage was to tutor out a Pithing Needle for an Opponent's Planeswalker. I'm exchanging him for Suppression Bonds now because a) I can tutor those with Heliod's Pilgrim as well and b) it doesn't change the Mana curve in cases where I immediately dropped the needle as a response.

3) Avacyn's Collier was a nice way to fish out A Vigilance Option for Ojutai if I didn't get my hand on Heliod, Brave the Sands, Sovereigns of Alara/Auromancerguise yet. I'm not sure whether or not removing it is a wise decision yet, but with the Trinket Mage cone, I'll think of it as a free slot. I want to try Island Sanctuary because with Ojutai's Anticipate Function I have no need for drawing cards if the opponent is posing too much of a threat - though this will need testing. Other alternatives to put in the deck instead include:

  • Aegis of the Gods (for "target player sacrifices creatures")

  • Azor's Elocutors (alternate, but slow win-con)

  • Curse of Exhaustion (Aura for tutoring, and 4/4 when Starfield of Nyx hits)

  • Redirect

  • Squelch

4) Welp this one is kind of self explanatory, isn't it? Gilded Lotus is a GREAT Card, but for this deck it hasn't been of as much help as I had hoped, mainly because instead of "mana producers" I use cards to cheapen the costs (e.g. Smaragd and Pearl Amulet). By Putting in Stony Silence it would become obsolete to use - but so would the opponents (and all their other precious artifacts/equipments). How are those precious swords gonna help you now?

New options to put in include:

  • Celestial Mantle (Really only needs to kick off once to prepare for the Cat. While I'd love to see this go off, I feel it's not necessary and makes me more of a target for hate than I already am)

  • Stormscape Familiar (Another cheapener to help out with the lack of the Gilded Lotus)
