Ultimate Masters update —Dec. 10, 2018
Ultimate Masters brought us some goodies to upgrade with! Very excited to try them out.
Removing: Demon of Dark Schemes, Ashnod's Altar, Thrilling Encore, Butcher of Malakir
Adding: Phyrexian Altar, Grim Monolith, Dark Ritual, Reanimate
The deck felt like it needed a little more help getting started so more ramp was necessary. Phyrexian Altar seems like a logical upgrade from Ashnod's since it enables new combos in the deck. I also felt like I needed another Reanimation spell to help for early game Reanimation shenanigans or as a way to supplement Chainer when he's unavailable.
Demon of Dark Schemes is a cool card but a little too expensive for what it does. Thrilling Encore is a card I really wanted to work but I have never actually cast it during a game. I'm sure there is a deck to be built that utilizes it better. Butcher was a redundant Grave Pact but ultimately if I decide I want to add another Grave Pact effect back in here it might just be Dictate.
