Retirement announcement; The Sun sets on the Light —March 2, 2022
Wanted to make a formal update on this deck, it has officially retired. I have been long in the process of making this a full control deck, but sadly, I am going to be changing this so much that it will even be getting a new commander.
I think that ultimately, a Control deck is something that I found myself.. displeased with. Its not fun for everyone and I wasn't having fun making everyone miserable.
When playing this deck, for what its worth, I found that basically you would stax and control the game until you assemble the orbital death ray with Bruna, and then once you knock someone out you will get killed on the crackback. Further, because the strategy was so telegraphic and obvious, It was my strongest and weakest deck and sadly I just got bored of it.
I think that, maybe, I could have enjoyed it more if I really invested the money and say, got the free counterspells like force of will, etc so I could survive the crackbacks. I don't think its a bad deck, but I think that frankly its a control deck with Bruna as its sole win condition and it gets boring quick. I did try to make this a full Lavinia-pool lock deck, but that also got really boring and unsatisfying.
I will be keeping the decklist around for posthumous reference, but I am announcing this deck is officially retired and gone. She had the best name, and the Orbital Death Ray finally goes dark in the sky.
