Does activating isochron scepter count as casting the spell

Asked by Monomanamaniac 3 years ago

The question is, if I activate Isochron Scepter with Dramatic Reversal on it, am I playing a copy of dramatic reversal, or am I casting it. Like specifically in the case of how cards likes Kykar, Wind's Fury or Ral, Storm Conduit would see the card

You cast the copy with Isochron Scepter. Per its text:

You may copy the exiled card. If you do, you may cast the copy without paying its mana cost.

There are a few cards where you "cast the copy"--each and every one of those cards specifically use the terms "cast the copy" in their rules text.

So, since you are casting it, you will get a 1/1 white Spirit with Kykar and deal 1 damage with Ral. Note, you do the damage for Ral because you are casting the spell; not because you are copying it.

Thank you, that's what I thought and was hoping for. That really makes the scepter extremely powerful
